Public support is essential to successful public policy adoption and implementation. Engagement of the public interest and building public support is an educational process.

Services include public education and outreach programs, elected official education, and facilitation.

Virginia Rural Lands Program

Project leader for a five-year educational outreach program to introduce techniques for rural land use planning and resource lands retention aimed at localities and policymakers throughout the Commonwealth. More than 150 educational seminars were conducted and specific technical advice was provided to 30 counties. The outcome of this effort has been the adoption of 21 local purchase of development rights programs and implementation of state farmland preservation and linking programs through the Office of Farmland Preservation.
